About Orlando Cepeda

Orlando Cepeda — "The Baby Bull" — was one of the most feared hitters in the National League during the 1960s. Born in Puerto Rico, Cepeda broke into the majors with the San Francisco Giants in 1958, winning the NL Rookie of the Year Award and quickly establishing himself as one of the game's premier power hitters alongside Willie Mays and Willie McCovey. He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1966, where he had his finest season — winning the 1967 NL MVP Award unanimously and helping St. Louis win the World Series. He later played for the Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals. A seven-time All-Star with over 2,300 career hits and 379 home runs, Cepeda was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999. He passed away in 2023, making his signed pieces increasingly significant in the vintage baseball memorabilia market.
