About Dennis Eckersley
Dennis Eckersley is one of the most unique players in Major League Baseball history — a dominant starting pitcher who reinvented himself as one of the greatest closers of all time. He is one of only two players in MLB history to record both 100 wins and 300 saves as a pitcher. In 1992, pitching for the Oakland A's, Eckersley had one of the most dominant relief seasons ever recorded, earning both the AL MVP and AL Cy Young Award with 51 saves. A 6-time All-Star and 1989 World Series champion with the Oakland A's, Eckersley pitched for the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Oakland A's, and St. Louis Cardinals across his legendary 24-season career. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.
