About David Thompson
David Thompson played college basketball at NC State (North Carolina State University), where he led the Wolfpack to the 1974 NCAA Championship and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Selected 1st overall in both the ABA and NBA drafts in 1975, Thompson chose to sign with the Denver Nuggets (ABA/NBA, 1975–1982), where he became one of the most dominant scorers in professional basketball. A 4-time ABA/NBA All-Star and ABA Champion (1975), Thompson famously scored 73 points in a single game on April 9, 1978 — one of the greatest individual scoring performances in league history. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996, cementing his legacy as one of the most gifted athletes the game has ever seen.
