Joe Sakic is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive and former player. He played his entire 21 year career with the Quebec Nordiques and the Colorado Avalanche (1988-2009). Sakic was named captain of the team in 1992 (after being co-captain in 1990-91), he is regarded as one of the greatest team leaders in league history. Due to consistently motivating his team to play at a winning level!
Sakic lead the Avalanche to Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001, being named the MVP of the 1996 playoffs, and honored as the MVP of the NHL in 2001. He was also named to play in 13 NHL All-Star Games and selected to the NHL First All-Star Team at centre, 3 times!
Sakic retired from the NHL in July of 2009, and had his number retired prior to the Avalanches's 2009-10 season opener back in October of 2009, at the Pepsi Center. Then Joe Sakic was inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame on November of 2012, and was named '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history!
Sakic has appeared at our store in Denver for multiple private signings, as recently as 2019.
